what i wanted to bring your attention to is the paragraph discussing the bible students' teaching of a "paradise earth" under pastor russell's leadership.
Over the years they have changed, dropped, re-adopted, back tracked, double spoken, adjusted and lied so many times that the new GB, writing comittee and rank and file have no knowlege of the past. Let alone know what the latest beliefs are meant to be!
i am sure most would think Russell and Rutherfords books were apostate.

It's about time the rank and file learned some home truths. I'm not talking about NGOs, real estate, missiles or child molesters (although they could be good subjects for return visits).
I'm talking about the truth about their origins, the bully organization, the flip flops, the pure malevolent attitudes of the GB, the hypocrasies, the double standards, the never ending prophecy dupings.

What i found more deeply disturbing is that when the old boys want to get some mind control going, or introduce some propaganda, they INVENT a "young people ask'' or "Question from readers". The poor old worker ants have no idea that the very format is in itself a lie. I seriously doubt young girls write to the society for boy help!

When i was single if they were so inclined they could sleep over without me even knowing their last name! After getting free i was not particularly interested in 'dating'.
BUT, when it came to meeting my children that was a VERY different story. Few were priveledged to do so. In fact only one long term girl friend and my now wife did.
so, if there is someone at home to meet then i say, caution and slowly slowly. but if ya got a batchelor pad then whats the delema?

I used to do the accounts for our congregation. Every month we would send all the spare money off to support the 'worldwide work', never questioning just how it helped or where it went. I conjure up images of the money rooms in casino's. Cash flowing through chutes like water.
Russell started it, Rutherford inherited it, Knorr perpetuated it. It got bigger and bigger and bigger and richer and richer and richer.
I dont think god was ever with them, sure some of the early teachings and ideas may have been more correct than the rest of Christendom, but then, to start a new religion you need some new ideas to attract the disinchanted. Russell was right, religion is a snare and a racket! Boy did he know it and the WBTS has milked it for all its worth ever since.

i read in another thread about c. t. russells attitude that his 'studies in the scriptures' is better than the bible and come to the conclusion they are not god abandoned today, god was never there.. fast forward to modern times and they are still at it, likening their body of teachings as being part of the bible.. most of you already know the pasages in their own lit that i refer to, i'm just stating my feelings as i dismantle a 38 year old belief system.. it seems to me, that all along, the belief of the watchtower society is this: our writings are true, they are backed up by the bible.
rather than, the bible is true, backed up by our writings.. disapointed.

hey, im bohms girlfriend.. i have been arguing alot with bohm himself about the huge amount of time he spends in here:-) now i've decidet to look it out my self.. about me: i have growen up in the socalled "truth".
i was baptised when i was 18 - because of an earlier boyfriend, who wouldnt be with me when i was not.
now i really hate him for it... it would have been so much easier if ive never got baptised.

OH yes! thats classic JW jargon. I remember many years ago back in the 80s, One of my siblings in discribing her new boyfriend gushed "he's so spiritual!" ( i am sure she would retract that now!)
If someone was "spirtual" it meant they were OK! a good guy or gal. Gee, they went witnessing EVERY saturday and made such good comments at the watchtower study...

Few JWs are truley spiritual i feel. Most think they are because they make the right moves.
